Everybody’s looking for the next great superfood: twenty years ago, nobody had heard of kale, quinoa, or goji berries, and now they’re everywhere. You can’t pass the magazine rack at the grocery store without seeing some strange new vegetable or seed on the cover and a headline touting its incredible health benefits.
They can be fairly intimidating. How do you prepare this odd new food? What do you put it in? What does it go with? Will it even taste good?
The good news is that old, familiar superfoods haven’t gone anywhere. We just didn’t realize all the benefits they had!
Take the simple banana, for example. Bananas have more nutritional power than you would ever expect, and best of all, they’re easy to eat and inexpensive.
1. Bananas are recognized for their ability to lower blood pressure and protect against heart attack and stroke.
